Dogging in Saskatoon, Regina and Saskatchewan

A discreet, home-based scene that comes alive in winter – Regina and Saskatoon, Paradise Beach and the law.

Saskatchewan’s scene is discreet, home-based and – unusually – busiest in winter. Locals say many people head to the lake all summer, so the lifestyle crowd gets together from November to March instead. Outdoors, it’s quieter still, though there’s a riverside naturist beach near Saskatoon with a nickname you won’t forget.

Regina: hotel bars and private parties

Regina has the province’s most active online groups. Couples there often suggest meeting in a hotel bar or lobby first – one couple in their forties invited business travellers in town for the night to do just that – and others rent a hotel room for the evening rather than play at home. Saskatchewan’s bigger lifestyle parties tend to happen in Regina, and people from Saskatoon will make the drive for them.

Saskatoon and beyond

Saskatoon’s scene relies mostly on private homes and discretion. When someone asked the city’s main online forum whether Saskatoon had a swinger community, the replies were mostly jokes about playground swings – plus a warning that the local adult group is overwhelmingly men. One Saskatoon couple did promise to celebrate a Blue Jays win with a dogging session in a park, though the result didn’t go their way. Further out, couples in the Battlefords and rural south-central Saskatchewan post looking for others willing to travel.

Where people go

People tend to use quiet lots on the edges of town or head out onto country roads late at night; exact spots stay private. Check park hours: Regina’s parks close between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., and most Saskatoon parks close from midnight to 5 a.m. – though Saskatoon’s riverbank parks stay open around the clock.

Paradise Beach

Saskatchewan has no official nude beach. On the South Saskatchewan River near Saskatoon, an unofficial clothing-optional stretch known as Paradise Beach – or, to locals, “Bareass Beach” – sits to the left of the parking area. There are no facilities, and police patrol regularly, so keep it to sunbathing. A less developed spot nearby is used too.

Staying on the right side of the law

Saskatchewan follows the federal Criminal Code, so sex in public where others can see is an offence, and police in both cities have arrested people for exposure in parks and on the street in the past two years. Keep things late, out of the way and out of sight. Is dogging legal? covers the basics – general information, not legal advice.
